the esteé edit review - metallishadow créme + powder, inside track eye kajal... and more!
Influenster was kind enough to send me these products in conjunction with The Esteé Edit. I had recently heard about the new line launching (and seen it at Sephora), but didn't pay any mind to the products since most of the line were things I already had plenty of. Though I will not pass up a free offer! The retail value for the package sent was way over any amount that I usually spend at Sephora, so receiving this was a nice treat. My honest first impressions are below! If any product strikes me as special, I'll be sure to do a follow-up post on it.
Metallishadow Créme + Powder (retail: $25) in the shade Aquanova
While I don't typically reach for cream shadows, this color is deep, rich, and amazingly smooth. I wonder about it's longevity, but I'm sure with a bit of primer it'll stay in place. The powder that comes with it is very finely milled, with a gorgeous duochrome finish. I was on the fence about each of these elements separately, but love them together! I felt very dark and sultry wearing this mermaid-fin shade on my lid, but you could easily smudge it just around the eye as a liner and look just as polished!
Inside Track Eye Kajal (retail: $22) in the shades Navy Brat / Baby Blue
I'll be honest: I rarely ever touch pencil anymore. I'm a strictly gel or liquid liner girl on a day to day basis. However, I was going out to dinner the other night and noticed my top matched the colors Influenster sent me, so I decided to try this pencil. They are some of the most creamy and buttery liners I have ever used (which makes sense, since they're kajal), especially the lighter color! It's not very common that a light blue can be applied on it's own and not need help of a shadow to reach full opacity (especially on the waterline, like I did) but this pencil really went above and beyond my expectations. I set it with a little bit of Colourpop Super Shock eyeshadow to match the color of my shirt a little better and it stayed all. night. long.
Radiance Activator Treat + Prep + Glow (retail $55)
I don't typically wear "glowy" anything, really, being that I am oily and shiny no matter what type of weather I'm in. I like my face to be matte. This... moisturizer(?) could be nice if you're the opposite of that. I tried a bit on my arm and immediately noticed a light shimmer... no glitter chunks, which is rare to find in a "glowing moisturizer." I also think that scent plays into a lot of people's decisions with moisturizers and this one has a slight chemical scent and... nothing else. That was a little disappointing. For as much as this retails for, I don't think I would repurchase or really suggest anyone would either.
Late Night Eraser Brightening Eye Balm with Pink Peony (retail $42)
I love the cooling metal tip applicator of this eye balm! It feels very refreshing after a long day or right in the morning upon waking up. I don't typically use an eye balm (though maybe I should?) but this product was nice and soft and blended into my skin perfectly after applying. It wasn't greasy or oily and really did feel like a "balm."
As always, the opinions mentioned above are my own and I would obviously never endorse something I do not believe in. Take first impressions with a grain of salt!
Have you tried anything from this line? What's your take?
